How often should I have the chimney cleaned?

Have your chimney checked every year, as recommended by the National Fire Protection Agency, to make sure the chimney can do its job to properly vent hot, toxic gases and carbon monoxide from the heating system to the outdoors. Temperatures inside the chimney often exceed 2000 degrees

What causes chimney fires?

The cause of most chimney fires is creosote which is a by-product resulting from the incomplete combustion of wood. It accumulates on the sides of your chimney as a liquid and later condenses into a solid. As it builds up it not only blocks the flue, but can ignite into a roaring fire. These fires can be prevented by making sure your flue is lined and in good repair, by having it inspected and cleaned regularly by a professional and by learning how to build fires that reduce the build-up of creosote.

How can having a chimney cap protect my fireplace?

A chimney cap on top of your flue can save you money in the long run. They keep out moisture which can damage and erode masonry and steel chimneys. A long lasting chimney cap also keeps out debris and helps prevent birds, animals, and insects from nesting in your chimney

I had a great experience with this company. I had an old chimney cap that needed to be replaced. I called them and they were able to come out that same day to replace it. The price was also very reasonable. The chimney cap came out nice and clean and looks like new. The Texan Chimney really impressed me!

The chimney sweep service was great! The technician was very friendly, and thorough, and took the time to answer all of my questions about chimneys and the services that they provide. Roy and Alex, the people assigned to our chimney cleaning, made sure we were satisfied with their work before finally billing us. Great service The Texan Chimney!

After trying several chimneys sweep companies in San Antonio, TX, we decided to give The Texan Chimney a try. The chimney sweep service was performed by two guys who did a great job! They cleaned out our chimney and made sure everything was safe from dust and debris. We will be using them again!
